It seams everyone tries to build some q3-like engine to import q3/q2 levels and models.. why only this game... why is nobody working on lets say unreal/UT/DeusEx/IGI.. clone? So far I haven't seen even any attempt to do this. Are thoes engines to complex or what? ..becouse, lets face it: q3 and UT just cant be compared.. they are on different levels..

'Cause John Carmack promotes that you edit his game and files. That's why his engine is so popular.

umm,
i have access to the fileformat and the way it's laid out.. (don't ask for it)..

but it's a lot harder to understand and reverse eng then how john lays out his file formats...

honestly, i say ascii all the way if your on the pc, some companies i don't get.
like rogue entertainment..

but honestly, i say to just create your own file formats instead of just writing a reader..
much funner and you learn a lot more that way http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubb/smile.gif
