spring on stairs

find some stairs. Place spring ontop of said stairs. Push spring.

Doign something like that in s/w would be very tricky, i'd imagine. VERY tricky indeed.

This is not a simple answer, it reqires physics modeling.
There are examples out there, try a google search.

nehe.gamedev.net has some simple physics examples.

You maybe could do a fake spring effect with animation and predrawn path to follow.
