I think it is called Computer Solid Geomtry, CSG. Do a search and you should get lot of hits.

Constructive Solid Geometry is what CSG stands for.

Do a search on the board for the stencil CSG hack.

Just pick the CSG sample in the source code samples on this site.

Really easy, but it doesn't really perform CSG, it just render them with a trick.
