Is this better than the ones shipped by the Microsoft OS? Is this new? How come I've never heard about a "version 2.0"???

Because MS is more interested in supporting their Direct X, right now what they ship is the last update they did for windows version of openGL.

Right now you have to work around the it, by using openGL extension to access the 2.0 features.

err, i meant about sgi's implementation...is version 2.0 the latest? when was it released? which one is better, microsoft's implementation or this version 2.0 of sgi?
