As far as I know, you can do this. Take a look at this site: http://www.wwa.com/~razeh/YAJOGLB/doc/YAJOGLB.html
There you will find an OpenGL implementation for Java and links to other OpenGL bindings. I haven't tried them yet.. so I can't provide help.
