3d modeling tools

I was just trying to find out more information on Free 3d modeling tools for creating and editing models. I wouls also likt to try and find more infor on animating models.

Any suggestions?

For what OS ?

A good start would be www.povray.org (http://www.povray.org) (the links section), www.sourceforge.net (http://www.sourceforge.net) and www.freshmeat.net (http://www.freshmeat.net) could also be useful, but there is more for UNIX then for WinOSes

Check out Anim8or (http://www.anim8or.com) which is free, functional and supports animation. It also reads 2 or 3 mesh file formats and can export 3DS meshes.
