problem in lighting

i build a set of a few connected 3d rooms nd i want to add light to the project, so in some room the light switch is on, and the room is lit, and in others the switch is off and there's dark. i didn't manage to find a good tutorial to help me do this & whatever i did didn't do the job. any help would be blessed.

once you got this, you could turn lights on an off by enabling/disabling lights.
