How can I make a background of a OpenGL/GLX window transparent? I use double buffering with the windows.

I found some general instructions for transparency at

http://www.kde.me.uk/index.php?page=x-6.8-xcomposite-howto

However, setting transparency of a window with transset will set the same transparency for all of the contents of the window.
If you want to set the background of the window transparent and some objects drawn in the window are opaque (or have different transparency than the background) then transset does not work.
