Rotating a 2Dline

Hi,
Can anybody tell me how to rotate a 2D line in 3D to get a cone .

Assuming the line is coincident with the y axis, rotate it 45 degrees (or so) around the z or x axis, then rotate 360 degrees around the y axis.
How 'bout them apples?
