I've looked around the net for a simple text outputing method but did't found.. all were complicated solutions including the 2 tutorials on Nehe's site... My question is: Is there a simple method to draw 3D text with ability of rotating and scaling or you have to go all through the blending and so on to do this... ?

There are some text rendering libraries available.
This is just one of them: http://oglft.sourceforge.net/
Just google for something like: opengl text library

1. there are at least 4 of them on NeHe
2. one of them allows for full 3d fonts
