BAD SURFACE EXTENTS

I'm trying to play Counter Strike.When ever i join a server no matter what video mode its in, it begins to load normally and then i get a box saying Bad Surface Extents ####/####, where ###/###, changes every time. I've reinstalled 5 times tried different download sites (including this one) updated HL and using CS 1.5 used NVIDIA 40.72 drivers, running DX 8.1, Tried it with DX 8, and everything i could think of.

I use w2000 sp3
1 GB RAM
MB ASUS P3V4X (Chipset via)

Anyone have any fixes?

Actually this sounds like that your memory is defective (or uses an to agressive timing).
