Hello,I just recently started playing the old Mortal Kombat 4 game which sadly only is supported by Glide and Direct X.

So my question is: is it possible to write an Open Gl patch for the game and if so ,how hard would it be? If there's any old game out there is crying to be ported to open GL -this most certainly must be the one!

Sorry if my question seems is a little naive; I just recently started getting into programming and I thought this would a great project to try.

Write an OpenGL patch, I'd say no. You'd have to port the entire rendering engine to OpenGL from DirectX or Glide. If you're wanting projects to work on, I'd suggest trying to design your own game or game engine, I think you'll learn more.
