What you've got there is an OBSCURE card from an uncaring manufacterer.

Just because a card has a feature doesn't mean its going to be compatible what a particular game or game type.

On paper though, you're right. It should work.

Looks like the game needs s3 texture compression as well but the card cant handle it...

From the readme of the demo:

SUPPORTED CHIPSETS:

-ATI® Radeon 7200, 8500, 9000, 9500, 9700, 9800
-All nVidia® GeForce™ chipsets

Sorry I cant find SIS in there.

But after all its, just a demo not a final product. The reason they publish a demo is to get feedback from YOU. You should fill in a bug report regarding your 3d card not beeing supported.

10-02-2003, 01:53 PM
I have the same problem actually...
I got the same message, and i'm using an old Voodoo 5.

i really wanted to play the demo http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubb/frown.gif

10-13-2003, 11:46 PM
This game work On Xabre !!!. New Drivers R35302 - work very good. (Open GL 1.3.0 = GL 1.3). Old drivers is not support because (1.2.1 = GL 1.2). :-). New drivers - www.sis.com. (http://www.sis.com.)

10-31-2003, 02:53 AM
I got the same problem.
I have an ati radeon 9600 pro and I could play the 2 demos with no problems.
I don't understand what this all means:

That means that the game could'nt load a file, that it's looking for.

Try to reinstall the game, if the problem still persists you should go and BUY the game instead of using stupid and incomplete rips.

lol,

I was planning on buying it aswell m8, but since the US is one week ahead i like to try before the buy, if u catch my drift.
Anyway, thanks

Try this board:
http://www.callofduty.org/forums/forumdi...2fafea34b5253ad (http://www.callofduty.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=8&PHPSESSID=147772fae55ab11e22fafea34b5253ad)

Lot of similiar problems. But it looks like quite a lot of ATI cards are causing problems. Still haven't seen many problems from NVIDIA. Works great on my FX 5600 Ultra.

11-02-2003, 10:43 AM
Did you install the Omega 3.7's? or the original ATi 3.7's? Cos ATi's drivers are working perfectly

11-02-2003, 02:03 PM
By the way, the game crashes if you put the OpenGL settings on your videocard to a maximum, dont know what they did, but it sure doesnt look like they tested the game on ATi cards :p

I have that problem and i have an nvidia card....any ideas??????

11-10-2003, 05:35 PM
Ok i found a solution to my problem.

it seems as if it is an installation problem, for some reason the .PAK files were not correctly installed. So to oversome this i explored the cd's and copied all the PAK files from cd1 and cd2 and pasted them in the main folder when there game is installed. i.e c http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubb/tongue.gifrogram files/Call of Duty/Main/

i ignroed the pasting of the PAK files that were the same size but overwrite the files that are less than the new ones. This solved my problem and hopefully will solve yours.

P.S Check that you have the latest graphics card drivers and DirectX 9.0b installed

Reguards,
BoA

SOMEONE PLZ EMAIL ME!! i cant figure this out, im on an sis 630/730 chipset, no problem running ANY other games...something with the open GL multitexture http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubb/frown.gif

I figured out the problem. No1 - if you downloaded call of duty, and your using an emulator instead of burning it - this could be the reason your having problems. I can't explain why it works when you burn it, but it worked for me. I was having the problem of "configure.csv is missing" but when I burned it and re-installed it... for some reason it worked fine. So if your using the pirated one.. this might work for you. If you bought.. I have no idea.

P.s. you still have to copy over the crack.

Did your mom never taught you why demos are made? Well if she didn't then I pity on you!
Demos are made for the marketing of the product, more people will like it and buy it, its like a preview to the movie. So, whats wrong in trying it?? http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubb/confused.gif

Lastly, if your mom didn't teach you this and your dad was atupid enough not to know this, let me tell it to you : THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK! http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubb/eek.gif

Ok jackass, read this thread and all the others on this board. The only people reporting this kind of error where the ones using a pirated version they download somewhere.

So go and complain at the pirates who made an imcomplete rip, dumbass!

Its no longer a demo, the game went gold and you can actually BUY it. However some CLEVER people got a pirated rip of the game and now crying a river that its not working.

Pathetic...

I am sure that PROGRA~1 stands for "Programme" right? "Programme" is German for "program files", unfortunatly COD hasnt been released in Germany yet.

How do you explain that? :rolleayes:

Progra~1 is a DOS shortname for a file whose primary name extends 11 character. Its not German or Latin or French.

What a blatant error on your part. Like Niel said, it's just a truncated name for a path that exceeds the 8.3 naming convention.

Wow. Get a hobby that doesn't involve showing what an ass you can be.

No, nothing yet except I buy a good graphics card that CoD supports.

But I wondering to attempt something like this:

If you have ever played Hitman 2: The Silent Assassin, you probably would know that it doesn't works directly on Intel 810 chipset or Direct 3D. But if I go to hitman2.ini file and then edit the name of my graphics card and my Direct 3D to Opengl it works well. What I am thinking to do is reinstall CoD, go to some main configuration file in that and in the same way edit the name of my graphics card so that when I start the game instead of saying
GL_VENDOR: Intel

GL_RENDERER: Intel 810/810E it would say GL_VENDOR: ATI®

GL_RENDERER: Radeon 9800
I would try it next time, and see if it works. Anyone else has anyother idea on what to do that doesn't cost much money??

I also have a SiS graphics chipset (740/650) and Call of Duty won't load, see error dump quoted below. The ironic thing is that I was able to run the Call of Duty DEMO okay, with textures at 'high' and dynamic lighting set to best, etc. So thinking that even though SiS wasn't in the 'approved' list of graphics chipsets I went ahead and bought the retail CDROM version of the game. But the ful retail version errors out trying to load, an OpenGL problem apparently. One note: The demo at first refused to load with similar OpenGL error (an ST3 tex comp error), but upon updating the driver for my SiS 740 chipset (cheap combo motherboard w/ integrated video, but as 2nd yr med student budget is crazy tight), but I grabbed a driver update that fixed the error and the demo then loaded and ran well (driver date 10-30-03, obtained via windowsupdate.com).

Usually retail version have optimized code over demo version, maybe so but not for me...
All drivers are newest and WHQL signed.

System:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
PCChips 810DLU v7.5a combo mainboard
512 meg PC2700 DDR RAM
Hitachi 60gig UDMA100 drive
52x24x52 CDR/CDRW
Windows XP Home retail w/ SP1 and all updates
DirectX 9.0b installed and checks okay w/ DXDIAG.EXE (passes all dxdiag's directdraw, direct3d, directsound tests)

If anyone can please help, really was looking forward to playing COD during precious few hours I have free for PC time.

My friend have an ATI Radeon 7000 64 mo video card. I know that it's a cheap card but if ATI sell this card, it must work properly!!! When trying to start CoD, the "configure.csv" error happend...The CD's are OK because I used the same on my computer and CoD works fine. I installed the Catalyst 3.9 driver but it doesn't work anyway! WTF?! I ever buy NVIDIA product and now I know why...What is the problem with ATI product?!

If someone have any idea to fix this problem, please reply....

12-08-2003, 03:26 PM
Cant use the 3.9 dirvers. Roll it back to 3.7

12-08-2003, 03:35 PM
I'll try now...

12-09-2003, 04:10 AM
Doesn't work! I rolled back with the 3.7 driver and the "configure.csv" error message still happen! I hate ATI!! Someone else have an idea?

Hey, guess what. I downloaded some new maps and couldn't get CoD to work anymore because I had an impure client (bad pk3) so I finally reinstalled from the disc *because I bought it JACKass) and now I'm getting that error. So you're wrong AND you're a JACKass.

FYI.

My problem turned out to be that I had never uninstalled the dawnville demo. Once I did and reinstalled FUll version, everything worked fine.

By the way, Geeeeeez, you're still a jackass.

For those of you who have matlab 6.5 installed then opengl will cease to work. If you kill it in the task bar then games or anything using opengl will work again.

So if your using the pirated one.. this might work for you. If you bought.. I have no idea.

P.s. you still have to copy over the crack.

Well done that man...

But now when i start a new game it comes up with the following error:

delayed-load image 'skins/sand@sides_sandbag' changed from 0x0 type 0x0000 with mipmaps to 512x512 type 0x83f1 with mipmaps

The zero's could be 'o's because its in a really stupid font.
Anyone have any thoughts?

For those of you who have matlab 6.5 installed then opengl will cease to work. If you kill it in the task bar then games or anything using opengl will work again.

Well, some other forum (http://www.callofduty.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=81108#post81108) has said i need new nvidia drivers, but that still didnt solve my 'delayed-load image 'skins/sand@sides_sandbag' ' error im afraid. Anyone got any bright ideas?

Someone suggested sticking to directx version9 instead of 9b somewhere, but how the hell do i do that? where do i find version 9 and unintall the current version?

Ok ive got some help from activision support group but the just gave me a part of the answer.YOU GUYS SURE WANNA KNOW WHAT IS THE ANSWER??????? DONT YOU????

ok they told me some things to do but that wasnt working at all but while doing what they were telling me to do let me show part of the 3 e-mails ive received from them maybe that will help you guys...

Activision E-mail #1:
Basically theyre looking if i were meeting minimum requirement:
1) Click on the Start button > Run.
2) In the box type: dxdiag
3) Click the OK button.
4) DirectX Diagnostic Tool will open, click the Save All Information button at
the bottom.
5) Save the dxdiag.txt file to your desktop.
6) Come back to this email and attach the dxdiag.txt file.

Activision E-mail #2:
Copy the PAK files from discs 1 and 2 to your PC. – Be sure to report any error
messages exactly as they appear.
1) Place Call of Duty disc 2 in the CD-ROM drive.
2) Open My Computer.
3) Right-click on the Call of Duty CD and select Open.
4) Open the Setup\Data\MAIN folders on the CD.
5) Open My Computer again.
6) Open the Call of Duty folder on your hard drive, C:\Program Files\Call of
Duty.
7) Copy the contents of the MAIN folder from the CD-ROM drive into the Call of
Duty MAIN folder.
8) If prompted to overwrite files, do so.
*(repeat steps 2-8 for disc 1)

Activision E-mail #3:
1. Right click on the my computer icon on your desktop and select properties
2. Click on the hardware tab
3. Click on the button that says device manager
4. Click on the plus next to "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
5. Right click on "Primary IDE Controller" and select properties
6. Click on the advanced settings tab
7. There are two lines in here that say "Transfer mode" (one under device 0 the
other under device 1)
8. Change those drop down menus to read "PIO Only"
9. Hit ok at the bottom of this window
10. Repeat steps 5-9 for the "Secondary IDE Controller"
11. Close the device manager and reboot your system

Ok the issue is in the #2 E-mail.
the file pak0.pk3 wich is suppose to be in C:\Program Files\Call Of Duty\Main
IS MISSING !!!!!!!

In C:\Program Files\Call Of Duty\Main
you are suppose to have some .pk3 files,7 of those. (wich are the maps)
pak0.pk3 to pak6.pk3 if any of those is missing youve the answer to your problem thats for sure.

Some .pk3 are on cd 1 ans some on cd 2
For my part my cd 1 wich contains pak0.pk3 was so scratced that i could copy and paste it to my hard drive but ive ask a friend to copy it from is Hard drive and send it to me.

Theyre you go if you have questions about all of this just e-mail me.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Your video card appears to be missing one or more features required to run Call of Duty.

You should install the latest drivers for your video card, being sure to uninstall the old drivers first. If you already have the latest drivers, you should completely uninstall the drivers and then reinstall them. This fixes most problems. If the game still doesn't work, it may be that your video card does not have the minimum features required. Please check the readme for more information, including a list of supported video cards.

I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE SAME GRAPHIC CARD sis630/730
PLEASE HELP US!!!!!!

02-23-2004, 08:02 AM
New Drivers from SIS seem to address the problem. Haven't tried it yet but its the first acknowledgement I've seen from SiS regarding COD
http://www.sis.com/newsletter/driver.htm

SiS Graphics Driver
@ For SiS650,SiS740 series
- Version: 2.21
- Update info:

1. Fix bug - An application error occurs when changing the display color quality during playing OpenGL application
2. Fix bug - "SiS Utility Tray" stop responding if uninstall SiS VGA driver from task tray icon menu.
3. Fix bug - The game "Call of Duty Single" can't be played

02-23-2004, 02:30 PM
Yeah l saw that, it notes it fixed the problem but l still get the same error message. There is even a newer version of a patch and it contains no note and it still doesn't work.

I wish SIS would just come out and say it doesn't work or that they are working on it, actually l might go send a email right now.

I know I've said this a thousand times... but why don't you just buy a video card? Now, assuming you have a AGP slot and are not stuck with a crappy INTEL card that doesn't have one... you can double your video performance and end most video card headaches for under $60.

I really suggest a Radeon 8500 LE for about $64 or the GeForce4 Ti for $85, but you can get a GeForce4 MX for $37.

If you want something mid-range, the Radeon 9600 XT is about $150 (or 9600 Pro for $130) and from what I've read runs very much like a 9800 XT for 1/2 the cost. Just be SURE and avoid the plain 9600 or 9600 SE.
www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com)

Oh, and before you say it... if you don't have the money... well, the SiS chips aren't designed for gaming. Buy one less game (at $40 a pop) and get the GF4 MX.

If you installed any mods, I suggets a clean reinstall. If no mods, then I'm guessing your pirated copy of CoD is bad.

In the <1% chance you have a legitimate copy, I suggest you return it for a new CD.
