View Full Version : Jedi Academy problems

09-21-2003, 04:11 AM
Hey!
I just recently bought Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, and have been having problems since the get go.
Now the problem says in the OpenGL window that there is some Corrupt Zone Header!.
I was wondering what can be done to rectify the problem.

Uh.... hum....

What kind of computer and video card do you have?

What operating system?

Are you within minimum specs on the game?

Are you using the most recent driver for your video card?

Did you download and install all patches for your new game?

Some information would be helpful.

09-22-2003, 04:26 AM
Ok.
I have a P4 2ghz.
64mb RADEON 7000 with latest drivers.
Windows XP Home edition.
There are no patches because it was just released on the 16th of this month.
I have way above the minimum specs.
Please tell me what to do.

Sounds like one of the game files is broken.

No idea how to fix that other then reinstalling the game or to ask Lucas Arts tech support.

09-22-2003, 03:13 PM
Well, I'll try reinstalling it, and I have already asked lucasarts tech support for help.
Thanks for the ideas.

I tried everything that was suggested and still nothing. Here is exactly what comes up in the OGL window.

oopsies.
didnt mean to post that one twice

Have you tried the Omega drivers? They're based on the latest catalyst drivers from ATI, but with some compatibility options preset.
http://www.omegacorner.com/index_ati.html

Good luck.

09-25-2003, 01:27 PM
forget trying drivers - the game is broken.
I have an Nvidia GeForce4 Ti4600, 128Mb DDR, 2xP3 700hz, 384Mb Ram, Win XP - system PASSES all requirements, latest drivers, latest direct X . Game doesnt start with - failed to load openGL subsystem - Lucas (Activision), were useless, and told me to load the latest drivers - HELLO!!!! I already have done!!,and downgraded them, and oaded them again!!! - they dont really want to know. I am returning the game I paid $50 for, and will get something that actually works.

I just tried the demo of that game, it crashed left, right and center on me.

I blame the game itself, because every other software works like a charm.

I wouldnt be too surprised if Lucas Arts releases a patch any day now.

the game isn't broken, i had the same problem myself. It's a resolution problem, because there are corruptions at the seams of adjacent textures. Go to the video settings in the game and switch the color depth to 32-bit. I did it and it works fine.

Hope that helps.

Huh? Nobody was talking about the visual quality (the z fighting that happens at 16 bit), the game freezes my system hard, so I have to push the power button because nothing else works.

Since my system runs any other (and my own) OpenGL applications without a problem, the game itself must be the problem.

Its just one of thoose crappy "we ride on the starwars wave and dont care about quality since it gets bought anyway" productions.

No thanks! I tried the demo and I surely wont buy this POS.

09-27-2003, 04:08 AM
Hey. The game is not a pos, from what I got to play of it, but there should be a patch coming out soon (hopefully). Anyways, I had a lengthy email discussion with one of the support people at lucasarts, and he/she suggested that I just send the game back in for a brand ****ing new one that is still sealed in the package. They also said that I should be able to run it on my machine. I already knew that because my computer puts the minimum specs to shame.
Anyways, the game is actually well done, except for all the errors causing the game to crash.

09-27-2003, 10:15 AM
OK, I had this game now since last monday. IT doesnt F*****g work period!
My system is way above spec, I can run any other open GL game. I have loaded, unloaded and loaded again the drivers, each time scrubbing the registry of old driver information. tried detonator 44.03, and also 45.23 (latest) - so latest drivers, directx 9.0, all other games run, what do Activision tell me .. Um.. Its your drivers, reload them again ... NOOO You pack of idiots! - you go fix your damn game!

I do know my way around windows, and I know my system is working fine. ( yes tech support I do know windows! - well as much as any other MSCE, who manages a large network for a living!!!) -so get a life and fix the damn game and stop fobbing me off!

OK I've had my say.. was it worth 50 bucks, to get 2 CD's that don't work .. ? NO .. Dont buy it people, unless you thoroughly test it FIRST!!

09-28-2003, 05:56 AM
The game works fine for me for what its worth. http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubb/tongue.gif ...and it's dam fun to play.

09-28-2003, 02:45 PM
I have the game running on my machine currently. I am having a problem in the 3rd (I think) level. I shutdown all the bombs and for some reason when I go to the main doors to exit to the ship, they won't open. Also, at the beggining when customizing my lightsaber I was only able to choose the regular single blade one. Has anyone else had these problems?

09-30-2003, 02:42 PM
I can't get my single player to launch, yet my multiplayer does. I have already gotten a replacement copy, yet the problem persists. Why is this happening? What can I do to fix it? My computer is way above the minimum requirments. Please Advise me!

You guys are lucky. We recently restarted our computer and it worked perfectly, as did JKII. Now we had to restart again and it does nothing. I think I'll find Bill Gates and George Lucas and shove the games where the sun dont shine!

10-01-2003, 11:33 AM
Can someone help me, i'v installed the game and at 100% it says please install disc 0 with data 4 . cab.

None of the discs have this file on??????

Any thoughts

If you can log into the options screen go under the mouse options and turn off the force feedback option...this may solve any problems with it not working under single player..make sure you restart the game after you change the option..

10-03-2003, 07:53 PM
I just had the same problem you have and I called LucasArts Tech. support and they told me the same things. Let me know if anyone has been able to fix this very strange glitch.

I can't play in single player mode. Although, I am able to play in multiplayer mode. I had the demo version before and that worked perfectly. I uninstalled the demo version. My computer meets all the minimum requirments. Please help!

I just installed JK Academy yesterday and mine also crashed on a Corrupt Zone Header error, as soon as I got to the part where you finish the training and goto the screen where you can select a mission to embark on, i selected the droid recovery mission on tatooine and just as it was done loading it crashed, this sucks, the game looks soo cool i want to play the rest http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubb/frown.gif

ah, cool.. I messed around with some display settings and rebooted and now it works fine http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubb/biggrin.gif thanks, me http://www.opengl.org/discussion_boards/ubb/biggrin.gif

hey i helped a guy solve his problems the other day ( he had the same game or same seris anyway)

(must become a member to view certian spots>its auto just click join)
(DOCUMENT)(http://groups.msn.com/OpenGlProblems/documents.msnw)
The opengl32.ddl is a fix u download it from documents and overite ur other c:/windows/system32 and it should play open gl games, also overite it into ur games open gl files. Make sure ur system 32 folder and ur game both have the sasme file of open gl!

**this method sloved a problem for a guy just the other day with that solving method, just click the link to go strait to download or to sign up first then just click link on main page http://groups.msn.com/openglproblems

I have had the same problem with single player although Muti works. I will try and scew around with the resolutions when I get home from work. Thanks for the advice. What resolution is everyone who can get this to run playing it at?

10-12-2003, 09:19 AM
Here's the deal. I play JA alot, like any of you do. I'm trying to create a game on the kotor_flight_school map, and it's say blahdy blah heartbeat to masterjks2.activision.com, and it's bleeding "Corrupt zone header" for single player. What the hell is wrong?

10-16-2003, 01:27 PM
I have the exact same problem over here. What's funny though is that I had time to pass the game once and play alot of multiplay games before it did it. I still find that it's a pretty good game but it's quite frustrating not to be able to play it again. I'm still loking around to find a way to get this over with.

10-18-2003, 05:31 PM
I have a intel machine chipset 810 and celeron 400. Video an audio on board with the lastest driver from intel. So i can play whit the game jedi academy fine except i have to use less setting on the game. But it working good. oh i forgot my processor fail whit the test on the cd game. but i play??????

10-30-2003, 07:49 AM
The game itself is very good indeed.. The only ****e thing i have to say is that when i play singleplayer it all seems to work just fine, on multiplayer it's a totally different story.

When starting the MP game it all works fine(Res.800x600, Best Quality on all other options). The FPS shows 80-120 depending on map.. But the problem: After just about 10 minutes of playing the game goes into a coma kind of state, fps drops to 5-max15, and when i return to windows and open taskbar it shows it's using 50% of my processors capability. I have all the newest drivers for everything. And i have Intel P4 2.4GHz, Radeon 9500Pro and 1024 DDR 333MHz..

I also tested to run a program (pifast) that counts the decimals of Pi (3.14... etc.) and it normally takes 37secs with my processor, and now, with the game just crashing it takes over 300secs!!!! Someone had the same problems?

What the **** does this game have against players?

11-02-2003, 05:36 AM
i have the problem with the menus.txt also.
so does anyone know what to do against it?
i dl'd all the newest drivers and looked around for a patch...
nothing told in this forum really helped me so far and this is why i ask if somebody had this problem AND FIXED IT!!
so far i think this game sucks cause it does not run!
thanks so far.

12-22-2003, 12:24 AM
I am having a problem with Jedi Academy as well. The game runs fine and all, but sometimes it crashes and I get the error message that an error had occured and the games suddenly has to close. I think it's an error with the graphics because it happens when I try and ride a ton ton or speeder bike in Multiplayer when admins summon them. I also can't play the single player game because it crashes at a certain point. I d/led the lated drivers for my video card and the latest version of DirectX and still it crashes.

I am running:

Windows XP
nVIDIA TNT2 32mb Video Card
256mb Ram
15 gigs of hard drive space left
1.85gig processor

I don't understand why this is happening. I never had this problem with Jedi Outcast. The game is legally bought so it's not a pirated copy problem. If anyone has had this problem and knows how to customize the TNT2 video card so it stops doing this please e-mail me at ssatlus@hotmail.com or message me on AIM at IamYevis

Thanks in advance for anyone that is willing to help.

12-25-2003, 05:33 PM
I have a wierd problem - when I play the game, I'll finish a mission, and once I return to the mission selection screen, (after finishing another mission) the mission that I finished before won't be registered as completed! I'm doomed to play the same damn 5 levels for all eternity!

Does anyone know the cause for that?

12-25-2003, 06:30 PM
Alright, I downloaded the 1.01 patch and it seems to now register my completed missions.

But now I can't cheat! (call me low, but it gets really hard, and other than the occasional help, it's always fun to change things up occasionally) I type in the devmapall command and it simply says 'map unspecified.' What to do?!

12-25-2003, 09:04 PM
Try helpusobi 1

12-25-2003, 09:19 PM
Yeah, it worked. Thanks.

However, the level thing is still quite funky. But I can still progress, though. I just have to set all my force abilities to less than all 3 (like all 2, or all 1) before the level ENDS. It has something to do with the allocation of force points. Because when I allocate it like you would in a normal game without cheats, it progresses just fine. But when I am taking out points left and right, (like in the menu for force points - I could still theoretically continue to weapons if I, for example, set all my force points to 1 in the ~ menu) the levels go in circles and it's like the game isn't remembering what I beat. Is that weird, or what?

12-27-2003, 12:26 PM
Hello, not to be a pesk...but when I try to play JA multiplayer all it says is: ERROR: no shader files found. Any ideas. I really want to play my game! All I did was download some maps, the ones everyon else has...please post me back immediatly.

Hi there. I've been having some problems with Jedi Academy too. Essentially, I can't run it at highest specs, which is odd because my computer is as follows:

Intel Pentium 4 3.06Ghz
Radeon 9700 Pro
1.5 GB PC 1066 RDRAM
120 GB HDD

I've installed DirectX 9.0b, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Catalyst 3.10 drivers at least three times. My problem is that the game noticeably lags/stutters whenever I:

run the resolution past 1280x1024ag
adjust the color depth to 32-Bit
set Texture Filters to trilinear filtering
turn dynamic glow on

If anyone has **any** ideas, don't hesitate to voice them. This is pretty much my last resort before I reformat my HDD and clean install Jedi Academy.

If I haven't provided enough info, please post too, I'll be checking frequently to see if anyone's replied.

Thanks in advance,
C_Squared

Or: Compare the size and date of your pk3 files in the GameData\Base folder with the files on the CD.
If your pk3 file sizes and dates are different, then your files did not copy over correctly.
Copy them again and try it...

I've been having the same problems with Jedi Academy until I downgraded my Nvidia graphics drivers from the new detonator drivers to driver version 44.03, which has customizible OpenGL settings. My question is now that it works on my C drive, is there a way that I can transfer my OpenGL driver settings to the new hard drive I recently installed. My new hard drive has more space and so I have been installing all of my games onto the new drive, but my OpenGL games will only work on the original drive.

My dynamic glow for the lightsaber doesn't turn on. I switch it to ON, but it doesn't work. I think it has something to do with the OpenGL. The reason I think that is because the OpenGL button isn't even there. There is just a blank spot where it is supposed to be. Anyone have any ideas?

hey, i'm having trouble with the game, it installs fine and everything but when i try to play single player it freezes after about 10 seconds, but when i play multiplayer it works for 30 to 40 minutes before freezing. i e-mailed lucasarts tech support (lazy faggots) about it and they say my video card is not compatible with the game. however it clearly states on the box that the Radeon 7000 series is compatible with the game (i'm running on a ATI Raedeon 7000/VE video card and my operating system is Windows XP) so please help!

Okay, for everyone having video problems with a Radeon card, turn dynamic Glow off.
